 "No headphone jack!" 2010-02-05
By L. Block (Wisconsin)
As title. I can't quite believe Samsung wouldn't include a headphone jack. It boggles my mind. How much did it save them? A few bucks? Completely stupid. If you want to use this TV with headphones you have two choices - plug the audio out into an amp, then the headphones into the amp. Or get a left-right RCA to mini-jack cable and plug directly into your headphones. However, if the headphones (like my Sennheisers) have separate left/right mini-jacks instead of one stereo you're boned again. Yes, there may be another cable that would work, but really, why should I bother?

Lovely screen, but what were you thinking with the lack of headphone support, Mr Samsung????

 "Great TV" 2010-01-08
By Robin K
I have purchased 2 low end HDTVs recently and what I notice most are lack of functions or ease of functions and the low speed of channel selection. Almost any low end HDTV will give a great picture and while I would not categorize this Samsung in that low end category, the picture is great and the channel selection is fast. This TV does a good job of providing ease of use for channel deletion, favorites etc. However it does not allow one to change the name or number of cable DTV channels. So when you are used to watching channel 4, it appears as example, 118-1 on the TV. The sound is also very good on this TV. For the low end TVs previously mentioned the audio when turned up would quickly distort. The Samsung was light and easy to install. Amazon had a great price with free delivery when I bought it.

For the inability to manage channels better I give this TV 4 stars.

"Good picture quality but average sound" 2010-01-01
By Fani (New York, NY USA)
This TV is now old and superseded by other better 120Hz TV's. Personally, I checked out the 120Hz v/s 60Hz TV's at Best Buy and I couldn't tell any difference. I think this is all a gimmick to keep making people pay for new stuff. First there was DVD quality, then ED quality which was kinda HD, then 720p, then 1080i and now BluRay and finally Full HD 1080p. Since this topic of HD is now exhausted, the newest manufacturer trick is to double the refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz to 240Hz etc. I have a 5-year old 1080i 50" Hitachi LCD rear projection TV and I am happy with that. All this new stuff is just to entice customers with buzzwords.

Anyways, coming to this TV, it has good picture quality out of the box. However, the sound quality is average. I played my home music streamed through my PS3 and the sound quality was just average or even below average. There was no bass thump, no oomph in the music. It was flat, monotonous and generally average. Now, I can understand smaller TV's needing external speakers, but this is a 32" TV. You should give it good sound. My earlier Samsung 19" this replaced had better sound.

PS3 over BluRay was good. Game mode is a plus since signal passes unprocessed meaning faster response time. I think this TV has 6ms response time which is good enough for most games. Unless you have super fast motion where you may see ghosting although I think that still will be rare with the 6ms.

Enough ports on the back for the PC, HDMI, component so no complaints. TV Remote is good and well laid out. Light on/off feature on remote is a nice touch for dark rooms.

The red touch of color is barely visible and I could only tell when sunlight fell on the TV. Else you cannot even tell its got the red touch. This is a silly useless feature anyways.

Oh and the swivel feature of the stand is a big plus over Sony and other TV's in this category.

Overall, I will recommend you buy this but hear out the audio quality first in BestBuy.

Love the bright colors and super sharp picture.

Did not rate it the full 5 stars due to how thick the tv is.

"A GIFT I WOULD BUY FOR MYSELF" 2009-12-22
By Todd J. Kaminsky
So let me start off by saying this was a gift for my parents, who are not very technically advanced.

In fact, their last TV which they watched in their kitchen, was a 13" that was probably 15 years old.

Myself, I am a person who really scrutinizes my audio/video purchases, and have found a way throughout the years to get the BEST of the Middle Class! If I were "Financially Independent" I would be the guy with a $50,000 dollar home theater system. I have enough knowledge to build one, unfortunately I do not have that monetary luxury, so I have had to do my research, meticulously reviewing every aspect of the technical spectrum, to make sure I get the most for my money, when it comes to my audio/video purchases, and have always gone to the Tippy Top End of mediocre.

As close to audiophile is I can get with my money.

With that being said, I tried to find a top of the line for what my parents would consider "top of the line"!

And since they aren't gamers, or will be using the plethora of inputs this TV has...

All I wanted was the BEST picture within my price range...

I was originally going to go 720p, because in comparison to their old set, this would have been a HUGE upgrade.

But when physically viewing TVs this one seemed to have a better picture when on an angle, and I wanted to give them the option of Full 1080P, if they ever felt the need to have a Blu-Ray player.

And the side USB is perfect for them for viewing pictures from their camera! SIMPLE/EASY! NICE!

So I helped my parents set it up last night, and it was a BREEZE!

Other people said they had problems with the screws not fitting in the base, but ours fit perfectly...

Nice and tight! Just make sure you use the right screws for the right part!

Also...other people complained about the RED TOUCH OF COLOR not visible?????

That was one of the first things my mom noticed and commented on how pretty it looked.

THE PICTURE IS FANTASTIC! We set it up to go directly into their cable line, with the QAM TUNING...

And now they have like 100 more channels than they did before.

The remote is intuitive, and has MANY MANY features that are accesible with the push of a button...

Instead of having to scroll through an entire menu to get lost in.

Some people complained about the sound.....C'mon guys????

These are TV speakers??? They sound GREAT for TV speakers....

Sure....My parents pictures are not falling off the walls, and the cutlery in my moms silverware drawer are not rattling! But they are TV speakers, and they definitely sound better than what they had, and they actually sound pretty good for them to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune!

Maybe I'll buy 'em a 7.1 system for it, ya know they could put the subwoofer behind the refrigerator, and one of the rear speakers on top of the can opener! LOL

Anyway, this TV is BEAUTIFUL, has many inputs, sounds great, and is very easy to navigate to customize exactly what suits you best, I would buy it!
