"So happy I bought this TV" 2009-12-29
By majax79 (FL)
This TV replaced a 32" CRT Sony that is a few years old. I bought this TV when the Amazon price was $439.00 (December 16, 2009). I did pay WA sales tax of $36.01. I hate paying sales tax when ordering online, don't you? I selected free shipping and received it on December 18th. I was surprised by how quickly I received it.

I spent a month reading reviews of TVs and even made a master list where I used the process of elimination to figure out which TV brand I wanted (OCD). I was tempted to get a Vizio but I read too many negative reviews of their TVs. Samsung has the best overall quality and customer service based on BBB website and customer reviews. I would've gotten a 1080p 32" TV but all of the knowledgeable people I spoke with online told me that there would be be no noticeable difference at 32" size with 1080p. They said it's not worth it until you get to 42" size. I would research that aspect before you make an LCD TV purchase.

The box arrived in near mint condition. There was a slight indent in the box but there was no damage to the TV. I'm sure that I'm noticing too much but I actually was really happy there was a handle on top of the box. That really makes moving it in the future a breeze. The TV is aesthetically pleasing, very sleek and modern looking.

Setting up the TV is extremely easy. I didn't hang the TV up, I just put it on its stand. I plugged in my Comcast HD cable box via HDMI, hooked up the DVD player, and plugged in the TV. I popped in my "Aliens" DVD and the picture looked really crisp and clean.

I can't speak about pixels and all the other technical aspects of the TV. I just know that the picture is really good. Perhaps since I've had a CRT all my life I'm too impressed with the picture. The setting were a bit overwhelming to me though. I'm considering buying a calibration disc to adjust the picture settings.

I would absolutely recommend this TV. I'm so glad I listened to the reviewers at Amazon and I'm glad they posted helpful and insightful information about the TV.

 "So far, very good" 2009-12-28
By Russ Atkinson
Our old CRT TV flatlined today so we decided it was time to get a new widescreen format TV. I couldn't even program our TiVo without a working TV and the college bowl games are coming up so time was of the essence. We have a standard def cable box and an analog only TiVo, so HD is not important to us, but everything in the stores these days is HD. I had narrowed it down to the Panasonic and the Samsung. The Panasonic was $50 cheaper and the reviews and Consumer reports ratings were almost identical on the models I could find. When I saw that Best Buy and Amazon had virtually identical prices ($2 difference), I decided to go pick one up today rather than wait for shipping and installation from Amazon. I went there and they had the Panasonic I wanted on display, but none in stock. I started to go to another store that had them in stock, but the manager showed me this Samsung and offered to match the price of the Panasonic. We have a small Samsung in our kitchen and it's worked fine for a year now, so after testing the sound on this one and verifying that it looked good from different angles, I bought this one. It was a snap to install and my son helped me haul our big old CRT TV back to Best Buy for free recycling. The analog picture is only average, but that's to be expected; I put in a DVD and checked and I'm very happy with the digital picture and the sound. I love Amazon and especially its service, but you may want to consider doing what I did to get a better price. If any problems pop up with this one, I'll edit this review.

The only thing better than this set is the Amazon price and delivery service. I ordered this set Dec 16 and it was delivered via "standard" shipping Dec 18th! Excellent set... the picture seems almost better than the 50" 1080 samsung we bought 2 years ago... which has been trouble free btw.

By indiefilm (Los Angeles)
I recently purchased this for my upstairs bedroom to replace my old 32" picture tube tv. All I can say is that I didn't expect it to be such an amazing difference when watching tv and dvds in bed. I already have experience with the Samsung LCDs since I bought a 46" for my living room last Christmas and I'm absolutely loving it.

Watching HD tv on this is incredible. Crystal clear. Watching DVDs is even better. I don't even have a BluRay player, however, the quality of the images on this 32" is quite amazing. For $439, I don't believe there is a better value out there. Buy and enjoy!

Beautiful picture. Attractive and sturdy.

This is "only" 720p (although it WILL accept a 1080P signal just fine) and not "120 Hz" but here are a few things to think about.

In 32", the pixel density is higher than a 52" at 1080p. Unless you use it as a computer monitor or sit very close, your eyes just can't pick up the additional detail. "120 Hz" is a buzz word and it is true that faster is better in LCDs but you need to look deeper. A low quality panel that is "120 Hz" will not be satisfactory. On the other hand, a high quality 60 Hz panel will be more than sufficient. Not to say there are not high quality 120z panels but the cost will obviously be significantly more.

In my opinion, this is a very high quality panel and spending more is a waste for the vast majority of people. I paired this with the Panasonic BD60 and the results are phenomenal. Up-scaled DVDs look gorgeous and I really don't think that you could tell the difference between Blu-ray from across the room (again, pixel density). Viewing angle is better than I expected, contrast is great, blacks are so black that you almost can't tell the difference in a dark room between the black next to the frame and the frame itself. Screen is slightly matted so reflections are manageable. Verdict is still out on the sound, these speakers are better than I was expecting but have not had it long enough to be sure if they can stand on their own in all cases (loud movie action).

It seems like there is a feature slope in televisions that it is hard to know where to buy in at. I have to admit that even after ordering this unit, I was unsure if I should have forked out a little more. After experiencing this, however, I have absolutely no regrets. I think that in a 32" it should be easy if you are able to separate yourself from the buzzword hype. Why pay for pixel density your eye literally cannot see? Even worse, why buy a "faster" panel that is poorer quality?

We purchased this tv form Amazon.com about one month ago and have been very pleased with the product. We use in the kitchen and it is excellent for under counter in a small space. Setup was easy and the picture is great. I have used sony previously but will definitely Samsung when making another tv purchase.

Good picture, easy set-up, perfect for the little space on our sailboat. Bought the wall mount with it and it was a snap to install. Only disappointment is that Costco had the same exact TV for $70 less than Amazon 3 weeks later. No price matching by Amazon and too much trouble to return and re-purchase at Costco.

 "Great little TV" 2009-11-27
By S. Nellis
I was tasked with getting a small TV to put in my parents' kitchen. After reading lots of online reviews and looking at some sets in local stores, I finally decided to take the leap with this unit even though there were complaints of sound quality and small viewing angles. I have several friends with larger Samsung LCDs and they all have been very satisfied, so I trusted the brand.

I'm rather glad I did. This TV now sits on a counter between the main kitchen and the dining area, and while it's obviously not as clear from every angle as it is straight on, its horizontal viewing angle is at least as good as other LCDs I've seen and better than many. We don't really test the vertical viewing angle much since it's waist to chest height, but it seemed acceptable to me when I sat on the ground in front of it.

I was only marginally concerned about the sound since they have the option of passing the audio through to the kitchen zone of their distributed audio system, but the speakers hold up well for what they are. Don't expect the same sound that comes out of the sound bar of a 42-62" TV since these speakers are appreciably smaller, but they fill the fairly large kitchen/dining area just fine. Don't know if I got a great unit or it's just quieter in our place than other reviewers', but I don't see us having to turn it up much higher than 60 out of 100.

Can't really comment on the overall picture quality as they're just running standard definition to it at this point, but the colors are great.

Very much recommend this model to anyone looking for a small basic set.

Pros

- Good colors

- Easy to set up

- Price: got it for $221 shipped during a special

Cons

- Muting the sound on the unit doesn't mute the pass-through sound signal

Neutral

- Sound isn't as good as larger TVs, but this is to be expected with smaller speakers.

"This is a good monitor for the money - Mac users need adapter" 2009-12-19
By Explorer Ed
I bought a 20' Samsung HDTV and really like it but decided it wasn't large enough to view spreadsheets, webpages, etc at the same time. So I then was looking at either the 24" Samsung with the 20,000-1 refresh(not HDTV) but since I'm mostly using this for a work monitor I went with the larger 25.5 screen at 10,000-1. The extra size makes a significant difference in additional screen size. I'm happy with the quality and like to know that if I want to stream, watch a video/plug in cable, this becomes a TV. If you use a mac don't forget that you may need a DVI adapter to plug in the monitor to the monitor port on your mac. I got a surprise when I first received it and couldn't use it. The adapter is something you either have to order or go to a mac store. You probably won't find at the box store electronic places. Good collection of ports on the back.

I am becoming a huge fan of Samsung. This is my 3rd TV purchase of Samsung this year. As far as the TV part goes, it is a super picture. Easy to setup, navigate, and use. But as for a computer monitor, it is just OK. The size is wonderful, but the resolution is not near what I had expected. I have better resolution on my Samsung Syncmaster 206BW monitor by far. I have gone through the ColorPro wizard a few times, but that did not help. I have a the NVIDIA GFORCE 9600 GT graphics card that produces great output. If anyone has any suggestions on how to make this work better with my card, please feel free to tell me. For the overall rating, I would give it 6 out of 10. If I can get the monitor resolution to be even close to the monitor it replaced, I will change it to a 10!

 "SHAME on SAMSUNG !" 2009-12-13

We would like to have known BEFORE we purchased this product that the install CD does NOT work with any browser except microsoft Internet Explorer which we DO NOT USE.

Because the install CD doesn't work with our Firefox browser, we were directed to a non-automatic, manual install. PROBLEM - The non-automatic install makes you choose from four different software installations -- but does NOT explain why we should choose one over the other. We expect the install program to make those decisions !!

Because Samsung fails to provide auto install for anyone who does not use microsoft internet explorer, then Samsung needs to explain the difference among the 4 choices so we can at least make an educated guess as to which option to install.

We are VERY DISAPPOINTED in Samsung and hate to see Samsung trying to force feed us microsoft internet explorer by giving no other install option.

The monitor/TV is being returned. Thank goodness we tried to install the monitor/TV before Christmas and found out about this crap -- because we also purchased two Samsung LCD televisions for gifts -- a 40" and a 47" -- but they are going back to the store too and we will buy two TV's of a different brand than Samsung.

We won't be buying anymore Samsung products because we don't do business with a company who is in bed with microsoft and tries to force us to use internet explorer. Shame on Samsung!

 "WOW!!!!" 2009-12-12

This is just plain one of the best deals on the planet - I lovvvve this monitor/TV! It's got great brightness, contrast, color gamut, no color-banding (i.e., gradients are smoooooth), just fits under my desk credenza (about 20 inches from desktop to bottom of upper shelf support) while sitting on the very easy-to-pivot rotating lazy-Susan base (no Susans were harmed in the production of this review! :) and it's a 1080p HDTV, to boot!

We're upgrading all of our lab's 19-inch LCD monitors at work to these - at $280, why not? It will be nice when an LED backlit version comes out, but, I suspect that's why this is now $280 - gotta do something with those mercury-vapor backlights when this becomes unusable (I can't say obsolete - I mean, it's a damned great 1080p HDTV, and just works out-of-the-box with all of our PCs and Macs at their max resolutions, and then some).

Yes, PIP and more remote control buttons would be nice, but, that's what computer windows are for (of course, not all of the TV content will be available, much less in 1080p, or anything even approaching that, from most Internet sources, and low-bandwidth Jerkyvision isn't much fun, no matter how nice your monitor is). I mean, it _is_ $280 - a backlit remote would also be great, but, I don't expect anything like that for $280, especially given everything else about this great product.

None of us will know what the long-term reliability/serviceability of this device will be for probably years from now - remember to update your review with your mileage, then!

I highly recommend this product to anyone who has $280 (or, even a lot more) to spend on a 25.5-inch LCD HDTV/monitor. Did I say that this awesome display is $280???

I finally broke my piggy bank and bought this TV. My CRT has been an old faithful and I'd not need to splurge for a TV even though I've been working in the arena of set top boxes with HDTV since 2004. But the pricing, specs and reviews of this LN40B630 finally convince me that the time was right.

A special note to Pilot Courier services. Kudos for a good job.

I bought the TV on a Black Friday Saturday night and it was due to be delivered on 12/2/09. Tracking showed that it arrived in the metroplex the next day on 11/29 and was excited that I might get it earlier than was noted. However, morning of Dec. 2 came and still no TV. I called them after lunch and was told that they couldn't deliver it because they didn't have my contact phone no. to make an appointment for delivery. I got upset but long story short, they called me back and said they'll get it out to me between 5 - 9pm that very day. It finally came at 10.10pm, I was surprised that they went out of their way to make sure I got it that very day.

I set it up right away and 30 minutes later we were watching TV!!

 "Awesome LCD HDTV!" 2009-12-13
By L. E. Liutkus (augusta ga)
For me this set was the best value around for the mid level LCD HDTV market. With impressive stats, performance and reliability I have fallen in love with this HDTV. Standard definition TV is looks good on this set but with my Xbox 360 watching DVDs and gaming is taken to a new level (as compared to the CRT TV that this is replacing). Even with the now relatively low 60 hrz refresh rate games and up-converted DVDs shine. There are plenty of ports to hook up all of the peripherals that one would ever need (although no S-Video).

There are a lot of options to customize the settings for this HDTV but I have been happy with the factory default setup. I have tested out the game mode with Halo 3 and it works great, but even without the game mode on, games still look stunning.

On a side note:

*The red Touch of Color is not noticeable but I do like it as there is also a clear glass/Plexiglas bezel around the whole set.

*The speakers and sound on this set are fair to good... but for me just perfect. If you are particular about high quality sound you could always just connect a surround sound system to the thing and not use the built in speakers.

*I have been impressed with the quality and reliability of Samsung LCD HDTVs (I have an older model that has been working fine for more that 3 years, despite a lot of daylong use) I expect this one to last just as well as the technology has improved a bit since then.

I would highly recommend this model to everyone, especially those in the under $1,000.00 price range. This is a good bang for the buck LCD HDTV.

 "MPEG Support - I don't think so" 2009-12-12
By This is my pen name, ok? (Houston, TX USA)
Just got this TV yesterday. I've watched both SD and HD programming on it so far and have to say that I don't really see a difference between it and my 4 year old Sony 40 inch 720P LCD. Now, it weighs almost half that of my old Sony but the picture quality seems about the same. I guess I was expecting something drastically different. I haven't watched a Blu Ray yet so maybe I'll see a difference there, but I'm thinking it won't be that significant. This is a bedroom TV so I wasn't expecting the same kind of 'wow' picture I get on my living room plasma TV, but was still hoping for some improvement over what I have been watching. That isn't to say the picture is bad, so please don't interpret my comments in that way. The picture is pretty sharp and the colors look good. Doesn't seem to get hot at all, which is good for a bedroom, too.

One thing that puzzles me is that Amazon's description as well as Samsung's websites describe this TV as being able to play MPEG via the USB port. However if you download the actual user manual from Samsung it says only MP3 and JPEG files are supported... no MPEG. I tried anyway with my thumb drive and sure enough, it will only display pictures or play music but won't play (or even acknowledge) the MPEG files. So that is some pretty bad information from Samsung... not sure why they claim it can do something when it really can't. If I had known this before purchasing, I probably would have gotten the 530 model instead. But it is not worth the hassle of returning at this point.

Got this for $705 11/30/09. With two day shipping I scheduled my delivery for 4 days later and gave them all morning. No email, no call, no friggin smoke signal to let me know they weren't coming. One wasted 1/2 a day of missed work later they came at ~7 at night with no word. Shipping company was PILOT, avoid them, couldn't even contact them. I wanted to buy another TV as a present but I just don't trust Amazon to ship it anymore. Sad part is I could see they picked it up in my state (Pa) on Monday and still couldn't get it to my house by Friday. Were they carrying it here on foot? Same as other reviewer the truck was unmarked and the driver called a few minutes before he got there and needed directions. It was pretty shady

Anyway, on the TV, very solid, great bedroom TV. I have a bad back and it was still light enough. Looks great. If you are still on the Hz debate and thinking of going the next level up I'd have to say save your money. I haven't seen any ghosting on anything, but I haven't tried video games. Having seen the 120 or whatever at a friend's house I actually thought it looked worse. The picture gets that home-video look to it on an LCD when response is too high. I'd pay extra not to have that.

Samsung LCD's have the best picture. However, many fail after a few months of use. It stems from bad components in the power supply. At turn on there are repeated clicking sounds which increase to many minutes. A Google search will bring up many web sites that describe this problem. Some consumer group WEB sites carry long lists of unhappy consumers as well. Beware http://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/samsung_tv.html

"Great TV, but comes with little glitches" 2009-12-03
By Simranjit Dhaliwal (Rochester, MN USA)
This is a great TV, and the price is perfect. I bought mine for about $249 in August; so far the experience has been a good one. TV looks great, picture & sound qualities are impressive as well. Only thing that I don't like about this TV monitor is that it is literally impossible to connect a regular DVD player or laptop to it. I tried connecting a Sony DVD player and was unsuccessful; then I tried connecting the DVD player via using the component video cable, but no dice.

So, if you are looking for a good TV with a great price this TV is for you. I've heard that blue-ray DVD players work just fine w/ this TV. Overall, great TV.

 "I give this a 9 out of 10" 2009-11-10
By J. Alexander (Orlando)
I really love what i got for the amount spent!

Its great for my bedroom. I use it as a tv as well as a monitor for my Dell XPS 430. I have a built in turner in my pc and the T220HD picks up more channels than my pc turner.

The picutre is clear and beats our 52 Sony Plasma TV.

There could be a few more connections!!!!

Wall mount is offered but could be better see samsung direct website.

The button for power on the TV/Monitor isnt the best.

Wish it came in more colors than rose/black.

But again this is a kick butt purchase.

Patt your self on the back after you buy.

 "Fantastic Monitor" 2009-09-28
By Andrew Tech (Washington, DC)
I did a HUGE amount of research to find the best 22" computer monitor under $300. The sound is not great (no bad either), but I did not buy it to be a HDTV. It works perfectly. The remote is intuitive, the buttons on the side allow you to switch between monitor and TV very easily. It comes with both VGA and DVI (male-male) cables and it overall a fantastic product. This is the best 22" monitor for under $300 and it just to happens to be a television too.

 "Great Product" 2009-09-23
By Joshua Hennessey (SLC, Utah)
I ordered this monitor as a 2nd screen for my bedroom, I hooked up my 2nd Blu-ray player & 2nd PS3 to it. It looks great, and is very sleek looking. It is a "computer monitor" so it doesn't have the ability to wall mount so it just sits on my dresser. The plastic stand worried me in the beginning but after a couple of late nights "bumps" into the dresser the stand held firm. It is a great purchase for the price. It has the connection form the coaxial cable and a built in digital tuner....I have not used them since the main purpose was just for the Blu-ray & PS3 not cable. My friend saw it and immediately bought one for herself & her daughters rooms.

 "Samsung TV" 2009-09-12
By Timothy O'mara
Everything came on time as promised and was quick to set up. The picture as usual is amazing but the sound as other reviews have noted is tinny to fair. Still for a birthday present for the wife so she can watch tv in the kitchen it rocks. She uses it every day so mission accomplished. Thanks Amazon.

"TV is good, but price too high -- way too high" 2009-12-14
By Nhon Quach
I have always been happy with Samsung's TV. In fact, I have bought 4 from Amazon. Two for myself, one for my friend, and one for my parents. So no complaints there at all. I am a happy user of Samsung TV.

It's Amazon's pricing that I am not happy with. I bought my second TV, Samsung LN46B650, around 6 months ago. Three weeks later, the price was lower by $150. Amazon refused to do anything about it -- they used to refund the difference for the price difference within a month. Strick 1.

More recently, I bought a Samsung LN52B630 for $1589. Within 2 days, I found the same items at Fry's Electronic for $1299 and lower by $90 on Amazon website itself. When I sent mail to Amazon, I received a not-so-friendly email from its customer service department, saying that they will make a "one-time exception" to "graceously refund the $90" difference (they used to apologize for the overprice and refund the difference right away a while ago). The item has dropped further in price since I bought it 2-3 weeks ago. So effectively, when I received the TV a week ago, I had overpaid for it by at least $200. The same item is now much cheaper in price in most Electronics stores in San Jose and Los Angeles. I used to be a very happy customer of Amazon. Not anymore.

So the next time you shop at Amazon, be careful of this change of refund policy and compare prices first before buying it at Amazon. Don't automatically assume that Amazon will be a decent shop and they will refund the difference within a recent period of time if there is any overpricing of the item.

"Not a fan of the TOC, but a nice TV" 2009-12-12
By A. Lennon (Philadelphia, PA United States)
Had the TV for a few weeks. Purchased from Amazon in Nov 2009. Shipped via CEVA. I'm not a fan of the red touch of color on the TV frame. It looks a bit cheesey. Also, when switching cable channels, the TV goes blank temporarily while it switches from say 720p to 1080i or to say standard definition. This looks to be by design. It would be great if it could do it more quickly, rather than the 1 or 2 second blank screen. Other than that, the picture is great. Sound is good. Setup is a breeze.

PS: there was some shaking in the picture during the first few hours of getting it out of the box, but that went away after a few hours and never came back. Probably normal for new LCDs. Not sure.

"Great TV but the worst delivery experience ever" 2009-12-10
By A. Toshniwal (Santa Clara, CA USA)
So i got this TV last week, and i am so happy with my purchase, the TV looks good, the picture are crisp and i am happy to have it.

But the delivery experience was the worst. Amazon shipped the TV through Pilot courier service and they are the worst in the business, i am sure Amazon must be getting very cheap shipping prices from them to send packages through them, anyways, they have a tracking system where you can track your package, the thing with that is it never gets updated. My package was supposed to reach SFO on 12/03, but the tracking never got updated, i had to call them twice before they knew where my package was. So on the day of the delivery i had to call them up twice to see where my package is and if they are going to deliver on the agreed day or not. Finally the package arrives, and its in a bad shape, the box carrying the TV is all broken from outside, they had wrapped it with duct tape so that the TV does not pop out of it. The delivery guy takes it to my room, and he does not set it up, saying he was not never told to do so, and on top of that he asks me for TIP .... i got so mad at him ... and said sorry no tip, and then he decided to install it for me.

Overall a good buy but so much of headache in getting the TV till my home and setting it up ... i wish Amazon reads this and talk with Pilot guys or my recommendation to Amazon, that if you charge someone $1500 for a TV, please please please please please at least make sure that the customer is getting the package in the proper form and he gets a good service, i would definitely think twice about buying anything from Amazon... what a pain .....
